LITTLETON - Police detained a man and a woman Tuesday morning after a shooting near West 6th Avenue and Knox Court Monday night left a boy injured.
Around 11 a.m., the two people were released because police do not believe they were connected to the crime in any way.
Englewood Police stopped a car matching a description of a vehicle possibly involved in the shooting at Sixth Avenue and South Federal Boulevard. Police described the vehicle as a white Volvo Monday night.
Englewood Police confirmed to 9NEWS they spotted the vehicle matching the description and license plate number connected to the shooting. They pulled over the car and detained the occupants.
Police later determined the description given to them of the car was not correct, and the man and woman were released.
Police are now looking for a white crossover vehicle. A crossover is a vehicle built on a car platform and combining in highly-variable degrees, features of a SUV with those of a station wagon or hatchback.
The 8-year-old injured in the shooting was driven to a Denver 7-Eleven after he was shot in the back.
The boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but with non-life-threatening injuries.
