KUSA - The man Adams County authorities said shot and killed two teen boys in a sex-extortion case was formally charged Thursday.
William Otto, 43, appeared in an Adams County courtroom Thursday morning. He was charged in the deaths of Gustavo "Danny" Espinosa-Gamboa, 16, and Jonathan Gonzalez, 15.
Otto was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, five counts of contributing to minors and one count of tampering with evidence.
A criminal affidavit says one of the young men recorded cellphone video of Otto asking him to perform a sex act and touching him inappropriately.
The young men, according to the affidavit, had planned to extort money from Otto in exchange for not going to police with the video.
The affidavit also says Otto told investigators one of the teenagers was holding a butcher knife, taken from a kitchen drawer, when he shot him.
The teen's bodies were found in Sedgwick County.
According to court documents, Otto's house on High street in Adams County was a party house. Witnesses told police Otto bought alcohol for minors.
One of the victims, Gustavo "Danny" Espinosa-Gamboa, has Facebook photos of him partying inside the home.
Otto remains in the Adams County Jail.
