AURORA - Two unmarked Adams County Sheriff vehicles were broken into overnight Wednesday and three guns and a bullet resistant vest were stolen.
It happened in northeast Aurora sometime between the hours of 9 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday.
Police say the thief or thieves took a Colt M-4/Commando (.223 caliber), Colt AR-15 (.223 caliber) and a Glock 22C (.40 caliber). A bullet resistant vest was also taken from the cars.
"We are doing everything we can right now... to locate these guns and get them back safely," said Frank Fania, spokesman for the Aurora Police Department.
At this point, investigators don't have any leads and are asking anyone with information to contact the Aurora Police Department.
The Adams Count Sheriff's Department has not said if disciplinary action will be taken against the deputies.
