KUSA - A sudden burst of fierce winds toppled trees and knocked down power lines in the Park Hill neighborhood Thursday evening.
Xcel Energy is reporting hundreds of customers lost power in the area.
Downed trees and branches littered the streets near the area of East 17th Avenue and Monaco Parkway. One of the downed trees crushed a car's hood, narrowly missing the driver.
A Park Hill resident said she was inside her home when she heard a loud crash. She came out to find winds had ripped a large tree from her front yard.
"It covered the whole [street]. From one side of the street to the other," Jolene Valdez said.
There were no reports of injuries or extensive damage.
All indications suggest the damage was caused by microburst winds, which is a localized weather event.
