KUSA - Every day, 15.1 million kids are left unsupervised after school. Boys & Girls Clubs are there to provide kids with afterschool activities to keep them on track to a bright future.
Basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal is one success story. For O'Neal, the Boys & Girls Club in his hometown of Newark, N.J., was a safe place to play the sport he loved and find the encouragement he needed to succeed.
O'Neal and his mother, Lucille, both former club members, were on 9NEWS 8 a.m. to raise awareness about the Boys & Girls Club of America's Annual Tools for Back-to-School Campaign, which generates needed funds and school supplies for club kids across the country.
How to Get Involved:
It's easy. Now through September visit www.bgca.org/backtoschool and play the "Supply Drive Game." Five correct answers earn school supplies for a Club kid. You can also help by participating in an online supply drive at the same address.
