AURORA - The pedestrian who was hit by a Jeep while walking across East Sixth Avenue has died from his injuries, police say.
Police say the crash happened in the 11200 block of East Sixth Avenue at 4:18 a.m. Saturday.
A Jeep traveling westbound on Sixth Avenue a man who had crossed the roadway in front of the vehicle, according to police.
The pedestrian was severely injured and was in critical condition at an area hospital for days. He was pronounced dead on Monday at 10:15 a.m. At that time, he was identified as 22-year-old Steven Williams.
The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
A witness told police Williams walked in front of the Jeep. The area was dark, and there are no crosswalks or traffic signals nearby.
The driver of the Jeep is not suspected of excessive speed or intoxication.
Police believe Williams may have been intoxicated. According to Aurora Police, all indications point to Williams as being at fault for this tragedy. No charges are anticipated.
