COLORADO SPRINGS - Two people were arrested on child abuse charges for leaving a 2-year-old child in a car that was stolen. The child was later found safe.
Michael Morlang and Justina Perez, both 24, were arrested Tuesday night following the incident in Colorado Springs.
Police say they found the child asleep and unharmed after the car was spotted by a police officer parked at a roadside a short time later.
The person who stole the car with the child inside is still on the loose. Police have no description of a possible suspect.
Police say Morlang parked the car at a 7-Eleven to make a withdraw from an ATM. Perez was in the passenger seat and followed Morlang into the store, leaving the child and keys in the car.
In addition to child abuse charges, the two were picked up on outstanding warrants.
