KUSA- Police in San Antonio, Texas arrested a man in connection with the 1997 sexual assault and attack of a Denver teenager.
42 year old Ray Ojeda was taken in custody on Wednesday on arrest warrants for attempted murder, kidnapping and sexual assault.
Police say Ojeda was on probation in Texas and has lengthy criminal records in Colorado, Texas and Florida.
The victim told Denver police in 1997, that she was walking home from her boyfriend's house at about 11:50 p.m. on June 13th when an older Hispanic man pulled up to her in a blue truck.
She says he pointed a gun at her and told her to get into the truck. She told police the man drove her to an unknown location, dragged her down by a river and then sexually and physically assaulted her, before shooting her in the forehead.
Police say after the suspect left, the victim crawled up to the roadway where she was picked up by a passer-by.
On August 9 of this year Denver police were notified of a DNA match to Ojeda.
He's being held in the Bexar County Jail awaiting extradition to Colorado.
