KUSA - Planning your Labor Day barbecue? Colorado is known for its Western Slope peaches, and it's a great way to add a little zing to your party.
Jackie Carioscia joined 9NEWS Friday morning with a look at the Farmer's Market pick of the week: peaches.
Peach BBQ Sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup vidalia onion, diced
2 cups diced peaches, de-pitted and skin removed (~1lb whole, before de-pitting and chopping)
¼ cup ketchup
¼ cup bourbon
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon smoked Spanish hot paprika
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan, add garlic and onion, and saute until the onion becomes soft and semi-translucent. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until thickened. Transfer to a food processor and blend until smooth. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
