LOVELAND - Loveland Police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a child at Seven Lakes Park.
John McClure II, 52, of Loveland was taken into custody at 9:33 p.m. Saturday. Police say he was hiding in a group of bushes by some railroad tracks near 10th Street. He is a registered sex offender.
A woman called police around 2:30 p.m. Thursday and told them her child had been molested.
"The officers were able to speak with a couple of witnesses who saw the distressed child, and they also saw the man leaving the area," Loveland Police spokesperson Mike Halloran said. "In working with the family they were able to identify from our records who the man was."
McClure has a lengthy criminal history including charges of burglary, indecent exposure and assault. Police say the child he's accused of molesting is a pre-teen.
Police say McClure is facing charges of first-degree kidnapping, sexual assault on a child, enticement of a child and criminal extortion.
