DENVER - Two women pleaded guilty to abusing a 6-year-old girl, which led to the victim developing a learning disability.
Deanna Martinez, 38, pleaded guilty Friday to child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. Regina Marquez, 37, pleaded guilty last week to the same charge.
Marquez, who is the adoptive mother of the victim, and her girlfriend Martinez, were accused of abusing the victim for several years including keeping her in isolation, physical deprivation, and causing a broken arm and broken fingers that were never treated. As a result the victim suffered significant delayed development.
Marquez and Martinez face up to 6 years in prison when they are sentenced next month.
