BOULDER - Authorities have identified a 7-year-old boy who was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Boulder County Friday as Vicente Nunez of Longmont.
Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Mike Baker says the boy was sitting in the cargo area of an SUV that went through a red light at the intersection of Highway 119 and Highway 52 just before 9:30 p.m. Friday. The driver did not hit any vehicles, but he swerved to avoid crossing traffic and caused the SUV to roll on its side.
Nunez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at a Boulder hospital.
The driver, 41-year-old Manual Nunez-Luna of Longmont, sustained minor injuries, as did six other passengers, including four children ages five through 15. Alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the crash.
