AURORA - No. 1 Eaglecrest improved to 4-0 on the season after defeating Mullen in an exciting 4-2 victory.
Eaglecrest had outscored their previous opponents 32-3, but Mullen proved to be their toughest test of the season to date.
The game remained scoreless going into the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to stellar pitching by Mullen freshman, Allie Reynolds and Eaglecrest Sophomore, Sarah Bushman, before the Raptors took a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the sixth inning, Mullen responded with two runs of their own, and threatened to add more until Bushman put an end to the inning with runners stranded on third and first.
Eaglecrest scored the eventual game winning run in the bottom of the sixth, when Michenzie Pace hit a deep ball to center that bounced off the fielders glove and over the fence.
Eaglecrest hosts Legend next on Aug. 29 at 4:30 p.m. and Mullen will host Chaparral on Aug. 29 at 4:30 p.m.
