KUSA - Steak 'n Shakes around the Denver metro area need to stop operating under the Steak 'n Shake name immediately.
The Denver Business Journal reports U.S. District Judge Raymond Moore ordered two Denver-area Steak 'n Shake restaurants to stop operating under the franchise's name.
The franchisees for the Denver area include one in Centennial and another in Sheridan.
The franchisees lost a four-month long court battle against the Indiana-based Steak 'n Shake company to raise menu prices. They say they were causing them to lose tens-of-thousands of dollars. This sets the stage for a trial that we could see months from now.
On Wednesday, both restaurants remained open, but sources say if the franchisees do walk away, they believe the corporation will step in and take the stores over.
