BOULDER - As of Wednesday, there is no sign of a family of bears who took up shop in a tree Tuesday in Boulder.
This is good news because if they were still in the tree as of Wednesday morning, wildlife officers say they'd be forced to kill the three bears because the mother has already been tagged. They think they were drawn to the area because of food in trash cans nearby.
This is the time of the year when bears pack on the pound, getting ready for hibernation, they eat 20,000 calories a day.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife says it's a reminder for people to keep all garbage, bird feeders, and pet food stored properly.
