NORTHGLENN - The man Northglenn police shot during attempted burglary Monday has been identified.
Police say Alejandro Pinedo was carrying a knife upon the officers arrival and refused to drop it. The 38-year-old charged toward the officers with the knife. One officer fired his weapon, striking the man at least twice.
The incident occurred at a home in the 11400 block of Fowler Drive in Northglenn. A mother and her children were home when Pinedo attempted to break in, police say. The home belongs to a Wheat Ridge police detective.
Northglenn Police Department said Pinedo was transported to the Denver Health Medical Center for treatment.
