LAKEWOOD - "The good news is no one was home at the time of the fire. The bad news, unfortunately one of the units was badly damaged," said Gary Armstrong a Division Chief with West Metro Fire Protection District.
Firefighters are looking for the person who lived at 303 North Harlan Street in a unit of a duplex that was destroyed by a fire early Friday morning.
Armstrong said someone moved out of the other half of the duplex, 301 North Harlan Street, just last week, which was not damaged by fire.
Several people called to report the fire around 5:30 a.m.
When firefighters arrived large flames were coming out of the back and attic of 303 North Harlan Street, on the west side of the duplex.
The Division Chief said the relatively small size of the duplex helped firefighters get the fire under control just 17 minutes after they were notified of the fire.
Fire and police crews are still on scene investigating what caused the fire.
