KUSA- A Boulder man fell to his death Friday while scouting for a campsite in an area of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
On Saturday park rangers recovered the body of 40-year-old Edward Tom, of Boulder. Park officials say he fell on Friday in Garnet Canyon after a storm with heavy rain and hail.
Two physicians in the area, rappelled to Tom's location, and with the help of bystanders, attempted to provide emergency medical care.
Three park rangers were flown into the Meadows of Garnet Canyon Friday night, but due to lingering weather and fading light rangers determined they would need to complete the recovery operation on Saturday.
Tom and his climbing partner had planned to spend Friday night at a backcountry camping area known as the Petzoldt Caves before climbing the Grand Teton on Saturday.
