USA TODAY - The chief technology officer at Business Insider, a business and technology website, has been fired for sexist, racist and homophobic tweets.
The action came as Pax Dickinson's tweets were posted by Silicon Valley blog Valleywag on Monday. Many of Dickinson's tweets had been posted over three years ago.
"Who has more dedication, ambition, and drive? Kobe only raped one girl, Lebron raped an entire city. +1 for Lebron."
"In The Passion Of The Christ 2, Jesus gets raped by a pack of n----rs. It's his own fault for dressing like a whore though."
Henry Blodgett, Business Insider CEO, said he wasn't commenting beyond a statement posted on the Business Insider website Monday:
"A Business Insider executive has made some comments on Twitter that do not reflect our values and have no place at our company. The executive has left the company, effective immediately.
Business Insider's team is composed of more than 100 talented men and women of many backgrounds, and we highly value this diversity."
Dickinson, though, continued to tweet Wednesday, defending himself.
• "I gained 850 twitter followers and +7 @klout in less than 24 hours. Now offering social media consulting services."
• "still have much love for everyone at @businessinsider. best & smartest people I ever worked with. don't hold me against them."
• " yes i would have deleted that tweet if it had ever been called to my attention since. too easy to misconstrue out of context."
• " yes, it was a joke about how racist and sexist mel gibson is. how's that for irony?"
