KUSA- Friday night, 700 people stayed in shelters in northern and eastern Colorado, including 541 in seven Red Cross- supported shelters. In addition, dozens of people spent the night in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas because of flooding in Colorado.
Here are some ways you can help those affected by the floods:
Stay in touch: Keep in touch with your loved ones via phone, text, e-mail or social media if possible. Also list your status on http://www.safeandwell.org/ You can also search for someone on the site.
Stay informed: Stay posted to National Weather Service warnings for severe weather and flash flooding by using Red Cross mobile apps. Apps are available for both Android and Iphone platforms and are free to download from http://www.redcross.org/mobile-apps
You can also help out flood victims by donating to the mGive Disaster Relief Fund. Test the word FLOOD to 80108 to give $10.
Donations will be directed to organizations providing services to the affected areas and listed on the http://www.helpcoloradonow.org/ website.
