MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) - The Montrose City Council has delayed action on an ordinance that would raise pay for future councilors to $500 a month.
Councilors said that they wanted more time to consider the idea after Councilor Kathy Ellis floated an amendment to increase the amount, at least for the position of mayor.
According to the Montrose Daily Press, public opinion Tuesday night was mixed, with one former councilor speaking in favor of a compensation bump as a means of diversifying the council's makeup and another speaking against it.
