KUSA- More than 15 inches of rain fell in parts of Aurora last week causing severe damage to some streets.
Police and public works crews say Utah Park, which serves as a storm water retention basin, overflowed. A river of debris rushed down Peoria Street and into the surrounding neighborhoods for several hours on Friday September 13.
A section of South Peoria Street near Mexico Avenue was washed out. The road is still closed, but city leaders are working with contractors and are close to getting a timeline in place for repairs. More details are expected next week.
