KUSA - Dante Bichette will not return next season as the Colorado Rockies' hitting coach, the team announced Tuesday in a news release.
Bichette, 49, was named the hitting coach for the 2013 season. The Rockies are hitting .271 as a team, which ranks third in the majors, and have a .323 on-base percentage. The Rockies rank in the top 15 in the majors in most hitting categories.
The Rockies currently lead the National League in batting average (.271), hits (1,470), slugging percentage (.420) and OPS (on-base plus slugging, .744), are tied for second in runs (690) and RBI (657), second in triples (37) and fourth in home runs (155).
Bichette played 14 seasons in the majors, seven with the Rockies (1993-99).
