The project will include replacing the curb, gutter, sidewalk and roadway from the centerline of Peoria Street west to the fence line along the damaged area between Florida and Mexico avenues.
Preliminary estimates are that the road will reopen in about three weeks.
Construction will take place from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily until the work is complete.
Traffic detours have been designated east and west of Peoria Street and will remain in place through the duration of construction. There is limited access along this stretch of Peoria for local traffic only.
For their safety, pedestrians and bicyclists are also asked to follow designated detour routes.
