KUSA - Senator Dianne Feinstein (D - California) chaired a Congressional hearing Wednesday to discuss legislation to make synthetic drugs illegal at the federal level.
The drugs, commonly known as Spice, K2 and Bath Salts in Colorado, mimic the effects of controlled substances, but they are often unregulated.
Putting regulations into place won't be easy.
Around 200 different synthetic drugs are taking a toll on America. They are increasing faster than the DEA can administratively control them.
Some have the same effects on the body as LSD or amphetamines.
