DALLAS (AP) - The new leader of a major union in the airline industry says he'll increase lobbying, oppose outsourcing, and help unions strengthen ties to local communities.
The Transport Workers Union said Wednesday that Harry Lombardo was elected president for a four-year term.
He's a longtime union leader who started out cleaning buses in Philadelphia in 1972 and led a 14-day transit workers' strike there in 1995.
Lombardo says he's going to take an aggressive approach to labor-management relations, and says the union won't be afraid of going on strikes.
