JEFFERSON COUNTY - Investigators say Saturday afternoon, Elk hunters located what they thought were human remains a few miles from Ouzel Park Campground near Deckers.
The hunters reported the findings to deputies, who followed them back to the location, and confirmed their belief.
Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Department says deputies started their investigation early Sunday morning, scouring the area for any evidence that will help them understand who the person was and how they died.
Kelley says it's possible that the flood waters carried away some evidence, so the investigation could take several days. This case is being treated as a homicide, something Kelley says is standard protocol for these kinds of investigations.
