FREDERICK - Three schools in the town of Frederick were placed on lockout Friday morning after police were called to a burglary in progress at a home near two of the schools, 9Wants to Know has confirmed.
A lockout means business is conducted normally inside the schools, but children and staff are not allowed to go out to the playground.
Police were called to a home near 7th Street and Locust Street in Frederick shortly before 11 a.m.
"Neighbors saw a person go inside the home," Frederick Police Sgt. Bob Bedsaul said. "The home was within sight of a preschool and K-8 school."
Thunder Valley K-8 School and Spark Discovery Preschool are close to the burglary location, however Frederick High School was also placed on lockout.
The lockout was lifted about 11:45 a.m.
The burglary suspect was arrested. Devin Sena, 18, had four warrants one of which was a felony, Sgt. Bedsaul said.
The owner of the house that was burglarized was out of town. Bedsaul said the suspect and the homeowner knew each other.
