The defense said it could last even longer.

Jury selection is expected to last eight weeks and will begin in Feb. 10.
In early January, as many as 6,000 people could be notified they are potential jurors.
Once jury selection is complete, the court expects to see 12 jurors and 12 alternates.
Also at Monday's court hearing, the defense made oral arguments to suppress material prosecutors obtained in a search warrant from dating websites AdultFriendFinder.com and Match.com.
Holmes allegedly had accounts with both companies.
While oral arguments were made, the judge did not issue the ruling on whether the evidence will be allowed at trial.
Holmes spent the entire 135-minute hearing staring straight ahead. He did not appear to look at the people speaking during the hearing.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys will be back on Thursday.
Twelve people were killed and 70 people were injured in the tragic mass shooting on July 20, 2012 during the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises."
