DENVER (AP) - The body of former Colorado Lt. Gov. Joseph B. Rogers is lying in state at the Capitol Tuesday.
Rogers died last week at age 49. He was sworn in as Colorado's lieutenant governor in 1999 and served until 2002.
He was the youngest American elected as a state lieutenant governor and Colorado's second African American lieutenant governor.
Rogers also was the last man independently nominated as Colorado's lieutenant governor.
Rogers will lie in state at the Colorado Capitol rotunda, from noon to 5 p.m.
The funeral will be Tuesday in Aurora, followed by burial at Fairmount Cemetery.
