DENVER (AP) - The director of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs engaged in a months-long "inappropriate, romantic" relationship with his executive assistant that resulted in disciplinary action.
The Denver Post reports that Reeves Brown's salary of $148,920 was cut by 2 percent. Brown was ordered to attend an employment-practices workshop. That's according to a Sept. 17 letter obtained by the newspaper.
The 50-year-old cabinet member tells the newspaper he made a big mistake.
State investigators reviewed whether the 46-year-old assistant felt sexually harassed or coerced into having a relationship with her boss. Investigators also checked whether she had received any special pay raises or leave.
Those concerns proved to be unfounded. The assistant now works for the Colorado Department of Transportation and is still in a relationship with Brown.
