KUSA - The birds and the bees talk is usually an uncomfortable conversation parents have with their children.
But, another important talk needs to happen years later. That talk covers how adult children will play a role in their parents lives when illnesses such as Alzheimer's appear.
Tim Prosch wrote the book "The Other Talk: A Guide to Talking with Your Adult Children About the Rest of Your Life."
In Prosh's book he explains the best ways to have that "other talk."
The book discusses how to discuss finances, medical care, and day-to-day living of aging parents.
According to Prosh, 75 percent of Americans will not talk about the difficult issues, which is one reason he wrote the book.
"I set out to write a book aimed at parents, to say it's your responsibility to take the initiative to sit your kids down and talk about these issues."
Prosh also said not to wait until the crisis hits, have the talk as soon as possible.
"You can never predict when the crisis will hit, so do it now."
