KUSA - Dan Rather has covered virtually every major news event in the past 60 years.
His resume reads like a history book. After starting out as a local reporter in Texas, he has covered everything from the assassination of President Kennedy and the civil rights movement to the Iraq War. He served as anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News for 24 years, the longest such tenure in broadcast journalism history. He's been a correspondent for 60 Minutes and 60 Minutes II and for many years contributed Dan Rather Reporting to radio.
Rather has received virtually every honor in broadcast journalism, including numerous Emmy and Peabody Awards. On October 18th, 2013, he will receive the prestigious Trustees Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
The legendary newsman is now the managing editor and anchor of Dan Rather Reports on AXS TV, specializing in investigative journalism and international reporting.
