LAKEWOOD - Police are calling Monday's discovery of bones in a tool shed outside a Lakewood home a part of occult worship.
To find out more about occult worship, 9NEWS Psychologist Max Wachtel discussed it Tuesday afternoon.
"Usually somebody will turn to that when they are an outcast from society - that they already don't fit in - maybe they're actively trying to not fit in, so they're trying to do something shocking to push other people away," Dr. Wachtel said. " Other times, maybe in their childhood - they've been pushed away, and this is their way of reconciling that in their mind. "
Dr. Wachtel says believers in the occult often have a background of abuse, ranging from verbal to physical, to neglect.
Police are still trying to determine if any of the bones discovered Monday are human.
