LAKEWOOD - Friday is the big Katy Perry concert for Lakewood High School students.
The students get a private concert from Perry after winning a video competition.
The entire school came together to make a video of Perry's "Roar"song. You can watch the video here: http://bit.ly/1gqxDWi.
But, it was more than just making a video for the students.
Principal Ron Castagna said the students asked "What can we do to make this have a life beyond the concert?"
That's when they decided to donate $1,000 for flood victims. Plus, they wanted to challenge all high schools across the country to raise $1,000 for a charity of their choice.
Costagna said Columbine, Pomana and a high school in Chicago are all on board.
"We want to prove to America, that this generation is the next greatest generation" Castagna said. "They've really got their heart engaged before their brains, and they care."
The students made T-shirts, "One World, One Roar," which are now being trademarked and copyrighted.
The concert begins at 5 a.m. on Friday. Students are being asked to arrive between 3:30 and 4 a.m.
