KUSA - Commerce City Police say train hit an empty vehicle stuck on a railroad track belonging to the suspects of an earlier case of shots fired.
At 11:23 p.m. an Saturday, police heard shots fired in the 8300 block of Rosemary Street and when officers responded to the area, a black Toyota sedan sped off from the area eastbound on E. 84th Avenue.
The driver attempted to drive over the railroad tracks near the 8400 block of Highway 2. When it got stuck on the tracks, the occupants fled the scene on foot.
Shortly after, a train hit the unoccupied vehicle.
No one was injured as a result of the crash.
Police eventually located a woman and two men who were taken into custody.
A 9mm handgun was also located in a ditch nearby. Police believe they were shooting it in a soccer field.
The incident remains under investigation.
