KUSA - Year after year Colorado ranks as the leanest state, and the common question is always, why?
"In Colorado, at a party, you're more likely to talk about your last 5K," Executive Director of Anschutz Health and Wellness Center James O. Hill said. "It's an attitude that says physical activity is so essential to a high quality of life."
Weight-loss experts at the University of Colorado created the "State of Slim," a book published by experts Hill and Holly Wyatt.
Along with the book, they've selected a group of people who work within the university system to put the book to the test.
It aims to fix a person's metabolism and have people drop 20 pounds in eight weeks. It's also supposed to help people keep the weight off.
"I'm hoping for a total transformation mentally and physically," Julie Bianco said. Bianco is part of the group. "I feel like for the first time in a long time that it's something that's actually achievable."
9NEWS will continue to follow the group as they continue their weight-loss journey.
