KUSA - Arvada police have developed a resource guide to clean up their community, while helping fight homelessness.
If you live in Arvada, you may have seen a public service announcement on television about this new effort that helps the homeless.
The resource guide includes locations where homeless can get a hot meal or go see a doctor. It also describes the city laws so people in the city do not get into trouble for loitering, disorderly conduct or soliciting.
If police encounter a homeless person, they will use the guide to educate them to try and help fix their situation.
Police are confident the guide will get some people off the street. They are hoping other police agencies around the country follow their lead.
Experts report more than 25,000 people will experience homelessness in metro Denver sometime this year.
The City of Arvada is trying to change that in their community.
