KUSA - It's probably one of worst things drivers fear: an object flying through the windshield.
A group of women driving in Denver faced that fear Sunday.
The seven women escaped serious injuries after a tree branch came crashing through the windshield of their older model Suburban as they drove along Interstate 70 near Quebec Street.
The group was leaving Vail from a weekend birthday celebration when the driver noticed a small piece of a tree branch or stump in the road.
The car ahead of them drove over the branch, throwing it in the air and towards the women's Suburban. The 5-foot branch came crashing through the windshield "like a torpedo."
The group was hit with shattered glass, but there were no serious injuries. The woman in the front passenger side had a couple scratches. The driver found a piece of glass in her thigh Monday night.
The windshield has been replaced.
