KUSA -A man accused of swindling close to a half a million dollars from an elderly victim pleaded guilty to fraud this week.
A grand jury indicted 54-year-old Akihiko Siegfried of mail fraud and money laundering earlier in the year.
Federal prosecutors said at the time he showed up at the door of his elderly victim claiming his parents had recently died in a car crash. He said he needed cash quickly, adding that he stood to gain millions from an inheritance.
The indictment said over the course of five years, Siegfried received close to a half million dollars.
