Thanks for clicking on my bio page. What you're about to read in the next several paragraphs is likely the most impressive reporter bio page ever. EVER. Nah, just kidding. Don't expect much here.
So ... how did you get here? Google? Maybe:
- You're angry at me and want to send some hate mail and/or photo-shop my face onto the backside of a donkey.
- You're looking for an investigative reporter
- You're actually remotely interested in knowing something about me. AWESOME. I WILL TELL YOU.
By the way, if you fall into category 1, here's some help: http://bit.ly/Xtl8jP.
All kidding aside, I really like my job and I take it very seriously.
I try not to take myself too seriously as you can see from this bio page.
I've been addicted to journalism since age 16 when I posed as a wheelchair- bound student and wrote about it for my high school newspaper.
At age 17, I got a job at a TV station (KRNV-TV in Reno, Nev.) doing production work. Between that time and today, I got a journalism degree, became a reporter, and worked in various cities like El Paso and Albuquerque. I've interviewed presidents, been attacked on the job, had a brief role as a reporter in the Transformers movie, and found I can eat a hamburger in one minute thanks to deadline pressure.
I've had the privilege of working in the 9Wants to Know unit since August 2011. I've even won some awards too for my investigative work like an Emmy and First Place for Best Investigative Reporting from the Colorado Associated Press Broadcasters Association.
During my time here at 9NEWS, I've exposed some questionable government spending like a water utility boss getting new rims for his SUV, a state-level cabinet member who helped get a friend a lucrative government contract, and toll money going to massages and stays at the Ritz Carlton.
I also found welfare debit cards were being used at places like liquor stores and strip clubs.
I believe in open and transparent government and I will do whatever I can to fight for access to information the people in power don't want you to see.
I also protect my confidential sources and value their trust when they come to me for a story.
On a personal note, I'm married (can you believe it?) and live in downtown Denver. I don't like salad, but I will eat it if I have to. The loud slurping of soup is a big pet peeve of mine. I like the color blue, LOVE science fiction movies and can quote Seinfeld episodes like a champ.
