It happened around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the station at 64th and Sheridan. Police believe the victim, a 53-year-old contractor from Parker working on a project at the gas station, was in the process of removing a 12-inch in diameter access cover near the gas pump at the time of the accident.
Rescuers with the South West Adams County Fire Department rushed to the scene and freed him. The man was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood in critical condition. The extent of his injuries is not known.
As for the driver of the SUV, and any possible charges, investigators say that is still being sorted out. The driver was released pending the outcome of the investigation. Arvada Police Department spokesperson Susan Medina told 9NEWS that drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as a factor in the accident.
