In order to support one neighbor, the salon is hosting a benefit that involves haircuts, face painting, an auction and prizes.
One of Lewallen's friends started the nonprofit "Courage is Change" to stop the cycle of domestic violence. Liz Oster was kidnapped, assaulted and beaten by a former boyfriend. She educates people of all ages about the generational cycle of abuse. Her goal is to one day open a community center where she can help others find positive, healthy relationships.
On March 15 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., La Vie Salon will host a family event to raise money for Courage is Change. To learn more go to www.courageischange.org, www.itstopswithme.org, http://www.laviesalon.com/ or http://www.mymatrixfamily.com/spread-the-love.
La Vie Salon was chosen to be a part of the Matrix Spread the Love campaign, which sends six cosmetology grads on a cross-country trip to visit 50 salons to learn from their experience and help in their community events. When they come to Colorado, they will learn more about "Courage is Change."
