Sheriff Larry Kuntz was issued an order last summer to take 91-year-old Clarence Vogl to the hospital for physical and mental evaluations. Vogl's family said he suffered from dementia and refused to allow them to take him to the hospital.
This issue was the subject of a 9Wants to Know investigation last year.
Vogl's family got a court order last summer requiring the sheriff to take their father to the hospital.
The sheriff admitted to 9Wants to Know in August 2011 that he didn't do that because he believed Vogl was of sound mind and did not need a doctor.
Vogl later died.
Vogl's adult children asked a Washington County judge to find Kuntz in contempt of court. A hearing was held Friday and the judge did not hold him in contempt.
