Cowden had taken his two teenage kids to the theater. They escaped unharmed.

His family says Cowden was a loving father, an outdoorsman, a small business owner and a true Texas gentleman.

A memorial fund has been established to benefit Gordon Cowden's four children. Memorial contributions can be made in Gordon's name at any Chase Bank location.
