BEST coordinator Carolyn Bauer, in addition to some students from New Vista High School and the STEM School and Academy, stopped by 9NEWS to talk about the event and showcase some of their robotic inventions.

Bauer spoke with 9NEWS Business Reporter Gregg Moss about some of the organization's positive qualities.

"We're a local organization that wants to inspire and get kids interested in STEM-related careers," Bauer said.

STEM School and Academy Student Grayson Gerlich talked about this year's competition.

"The playing field is anything but little. We actually have a large number of scoring game pieces, and it is actually a tall playing field this year," Gerlich said.

Gerlich also talked about this year's playing field and how it compares to last year's.

"We've had some new technology this year; we have a laser engraver now and we have a CNC mill. So we've gotten to learn a lot of new techniques for using our higher technology," Gerlich said.
