The Daily Camera reports the first day of the initiative Friday was marked by yet another aggressive coyote incident.
Following several reports of aggressive coyotes in recent weeks, the city developed a strategy for managing coyotes. It includes retraining coyotes to be wary of humans by hazing them - whether by blowing an air horn, throwing a tennis ball toward them or other obnoxious actions.
The Daily Camera reports city employees were doing that Friday when they learned that a man walking a dog had been menaced at close range by a coyote with ears back, teeth bared.
City officials say the hazing program will continue.
