SUMMIT COUNTY - The state's snowpack is still below average and that's not good news for rafting companies. As they get ready for spring business, they're hoping this weekend will bring one of many big late season snow storms.

At Rivers Clothing and Kodi Rafting in Frisco owner Christy Campton is ready for Colorado rivers to start flowing and so are her customers.

Last season left the rafting industry going the wrong direction, thanks to weak snow and low runoff. This season the hope is that recent snow storms will help turn things around.
"We still have hope that we have hopefully some spring storms and some great storms coming through," Campton said.

With the state's snowpack at 75 percent of normal, those in the rafting business are now looking for big changes in the sky. They are hoping big late season snow storms will help boost the snowpack before it melts.

"Hopefully that helps the snowpack and gets us an average year that would be great," Campton said.

Its snow Matt Wade is also hoping for.

"That's basically our water storage for the season," Wade said.

Wade owns Ten Mile Creek Kayaks in Frisco and the sight of grass in March has him prepping for the worst.

"I am already planning on selling less boats, carrying less gear," Wade said.

He also says that while kayaks have always been his bread and butter this season, he will likely focus more on paddle boards.

"I will focus more on paddling this year than kayaking, cause we will have a shorter season this year than last year," Wade said.
