HIGHLANDS RANCH - A clubhouse at the Palomino Park Apartments in Highlands Ranch was evacuated after a suspected pipe bomb was found Friday afternoon.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a maintenance worker found the device in an open field next to the apartment complex, located at 6700 Palamino Parkway, and brought it into the clubhouse.
Residents at the apartment complex were not told to evacuate, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say the device has screw caps on each side and a fuse coming out, which is consistent with a pipe bomb design.
The Douglas County bomb squad is on scene and will x-ray the suspected pipe bomb and salvage what they can for evidence.
