DENVER - A Denver on-ramp that has been the scene of numerous accidents over the years is being re-done in the name of safety.
The interchange from Federal onto Sixth Avenue will be upgraded, with work starting within the next few months. The project will cross through a portion of Barnum East Park and will include a makeover of the park, including better restrooms and improved baseball fields and turf.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is heading up the project which will also link Barnum Park and Barnum North Park via a pedestrian bridge over Sixth Avenue.
Besides the work involving Federal and Sixth, CDOT is replacing five bridges in the area as part of the Colorado Bridge Enterprise to the tune of $106 million.
